Beyond the Surface: The Meaning of Salvation

The word salvation comes from the Latin salvus, which means “to be healed” or “made whole.”

Today we often think of it mainly as escaping punishment or avoiding danger.

That shift reduced salvation to a legal outcome instead of a work of restoration.

The original meaning reminds us that God’s desire is to heal what is broken in us.
