More Than a Day Off
The season is starting again.
Lights.
Music.
Crowded calendars.
People say “Happy holidays” without a second thought.
But the word has a past we rarely notice.
Holiday began as holy day — a day marked for worship, a day set aside for God.
Not a break … but a pause.
Not an escape … but a moment to remember what matters.
Over time the spelling changed, the sound softened, and the meaning slipped into the background.
Yet the invitation never disappeared.
In the middle of the rush, set one thing aside that is not urgent, and make space for what is.
The holiest moments rarely happen on the busiest days.
But they do happen when we open the door for them.
